Journal Club QBio Honours Programme
Cursusdoel
At the end of the course, students should have a profound understanding of current research in Quantitative Biology/Life Science and how to successfully combining computational models with experimental data in Life Science. Thereby, students should be able to read and understand interdisciplinary papers in Life and Natural Sciences.
Vakinhoudelijk
Description of content. A monthly journal club (afternoon-early evening on the last Thursday of the month, with food and drinks) for high-level discussions of interdisciplinary papers in the Life Sciences. The paper discussions will be led by a PI from Utrecht University or UMCU with a joint background in experimental and theoretical science. In addition to acquiring knowledge and insight, this monthly gathering is intended to stimulate coherence and collaboration among the students.
Literature/study material used: Recent interdisciplinary papers on Quantitative Life Science. Students will play an active role in suggesting the guest PIs. PIs select the papers, and give a short introduction. The papers are presented by the students during the sessions, and the whole group participates in the discussion.
Registration:
This course is only for selected honours Qbio students.
