- Knowledge of the historical development of citizen participation in urban and state governance - Knowledge of theories concerning the origins, development and effect of institutions related to this topic - Knowledge of methods for long-term historical research - A critical awareness of the possibilities and limitations of these theories and methods - Skills in the application of these theories and methods in historical research
