Sustainable Water Resources Management (2025/2026: Periode 1)
Cursusdoel
1. Identify the key components of the global and regional water cycle and their relevance for water resources sustainability.
2. Understand the concept of climate adaptation and how its overarching policy context steers contemporary water management.
3. Understand governance, legal, and natural water science perspectives to advance water management for climate adaptation.
4. Acquire an overview of the main methodologies and solutions used in sustainable water resources management.
5. Identify and evaluate complex societal challenges in water management.
Vakinhoudelijk
Problem- and challenge-based learning and case studies will be utilized throughout the course, with a view to dissecting – identifying and understanding – the contemporary issues faced by water practitioners. Sustainability issues in water management, in both developing and developed economies, will also be explored.
The course starts with a hands-on field school in Zeeland, 1-3 September 2025, where students can explore real-world case studies, engage in interactive fieldwork, and connect theory with practice in one of the Netherlands’ most dynamic coastal regions. This immersive experience sets the stage for the course, equipping students with valuable insights and skills right from the start.
