- carry out largely independent academic research on a self-chosen topic
- report, in the form of the thesis itself, about this research at a level that complies with generally accepted disciplinary norms.

Students write their thesis independently under the guidance of a supervisor.

Required | Weight 100% | Minimum grade 5.5 | ECTS 15
The first part of the assessment concerns the mandatory formal requirements (correct use of language, completeness, notation and list of sources, layout) of the research project. If one or more of these requirements are not met, the thesis’ content will not be assessed. The assessment of the thesis is based on the following aspects: 1. research question and sub questions 2. theoretical framework & academic relevance 3. method 4. analysis 5. conclusion 6. use and citation of sources 7. structure of the argument 8. composition and style 9. initiative (to be filled in by the supervisor) The assessors determine whether the thesis meets the mandatory content requirements. Categories 1 to 6 must all be assessed pass when handing out a passing or higher grade
