Cursusdoel

In the BA-thesis particular attention is paid to strengthening the following academic skills:
- carrying out a thorough research design;
- performing an analysis;
- setting up a well-structured paper in which the findings of the research are incorporated in a structured way;
- academic writing;
- critical analysis of and reflection on texts;
- correcting and improving one's own work and that of others.

Vakinhoudelijk

The BA-thesis has all the characteristics of a regular course with one lecture (attendance compulsory) in week 1 and five plenary seminars and/or individual appointments, interim assignments and hard deadlines - with one big difference: the student is required to be more independent.
In this course, you will write your BA thesis based on the research proposal you wrote for the course Research Seminar ME3V20001. Only proposals with a satisfactory grade are allowed. In principle, students retain the supervisor of the Research Seminar and are placed in the corresponding seminar by the coordinator.
You register for your thesis via Osiris.

Students who are following the Ba-thesis for the second time must first write a new research proposal. They are urgently requested to contact the coordinator already during the registration period.
For students who started in academic year 2018 or later, the course Research Seminar Media and Culture MC3V20001 is the entry requirement for the BA thesis.
For premaster students, this entry requirement only applies if the course Research Seminar Media and Culture is included in their premaster program.

Students are advised not to register for courses that (partly) fall in the same timeslots as the timeslots of this course.

During the workgroup meetings students give and receive peer feedback.

Voorbereiding

Students improve their general academic skills in the field of searching for literature and reading and writing of academic texts (e.g. formulating a research proposal, reading report).

Verplicht | Weging 100% | Minimum cijfer 5,5 | ECTS 7,5

The course program will be published on Blackboard two weeks before the start of the course and will contain the assignments and deadlines. Students are expected to take notice of this.
