Vakinhoudelijk
People do not only play roles in theatre and dance performances, feature films and television dramas, but people also play roles in everyday life. In mediated cultures and neoliberal societies, people’s behaviour and actions increasingly take on distinct forms of acting and performing to particular audiences: role-playing of politicians’ to their voters, role-playing of computer gamers, role-playing of candidates in reality TV entertainment, role-playing of Facebook users and others in online communities. Theatre, dance and performance have a long history of dealing and thinking through the hows and whys of acting and performing.
